I identify as a mildly disorganized — okay, lazy — person, and for the majority of my adulthood, I've thought of cabinets as a means of hiding a jumble of cookware and kitchen supplies. I could never understand why anyone would want open shelving. Where would they stash the mess? I mused. Of course, that type of storage is meant for people who are tidier than I. Now, I doubt I'll ever be described as a "neat freak," but I'm proud to say I have changed my ways when it comes to treating cupboards as clutter catch-alls. It's all because I now have a dedicated place to store the lids to my pots and pans.
The cooking vessels themselves are generally easy to nest, especially if you have pan protectors, but up until recently, my lids were roaming freely. This made for chaotic-looking cabinets, but also meant I was constantly grabbing the wrong size, because there was no order whatsoever. Now that I have a spot solely for them, I'm able to be much more efficient (and don't cringe every time I reach for something). Amazon's selling a similar doodad — the Flsepamb Lid Organizer — for just $10, and, dare I say, it might be the best sawbuck you'll spend this year.
I'll admit — I'm at a loss when it comes to pronouncing Flsepamb, but I'd imagine it means "a kitchen cabinet's BFF" in whatever language it's from.
Made of stainless steel, this lid solution is sturdy enough to hold a good amount of weight and has 10 slots for storing just about anything that'll fit. If you'd rather not stack your pans on top of one another, you can place slimmer skillets on this divider as well. Oh, and it comes assembled, in case you're like me and would rather not take on a time-sucking building project.
I store my lids in height order, with the smaller ones at the front and the larger ones toward the back. This allows me to see exactly where the size I need is, and I get a little serotonin boost when I open my cabinet door and everything looks neat as a pin. Of course, this organizer isn't limited to the kitchen; reviewers say they use it for everything from books to crafting supplies, and one even said it's "perfect for drying reusable bags on." Whatever floats your boat!
Now doesn't that look nice? And no, I'm not talking about the perfect manicure. (Getty Images)
The Flsepamb Lid Organizer has "racked" up more than 1,600 perfect ratings from Amazon shoppers, who have found some clever uses for it.
"This sturdy rack is designed to store pot and pan covers, but I use it to store plastic storage container lids," shared one crafty customer. "I used to just stack them, but this rack holder looks more organized and makes it much easier to find what I need. Highly recommend!"
"Simple, clean design," praised a cutter of clutter. "[The] nonskid, slip-on feet are a plus. Finally, I can store glass pan lids where their handles do not interfere with anything else."
"It's perfect," raved a third buyer. "It's the right size for holding various sizes of residential kitchen cutting boards. [It's] small enough to sit on the counter, keeping the cutting boards within reach."
Some shoppers did have notes, like this four-star reviewer who wrote, "It works for most lids, however, if the lid has a taller-than-usual handle, it takes some maneuvering to get [it] in and out of the rack."
"I wish I'd known about this many years ago — what a difference it has made!" mused a mostly pleased organizer. "It has two sizes of slots — five smaller and four larger ones ... although I was able to make it work, I wish all the slots were the same size as the larger half." (See below for a solution.)
With this model, you can remove the dividers to suit your needs.
And when it comes to decluttering the rest of your kitchen...
These wildly popular containers are clearly doing something — tens of thousands of shoppers have given them a perfect five-star rating. In addition to helping cut down on food waste, these bins allow you to group your food products and beverages by category for a more cohesive, easy-to-navigate fridge. Juice boxes, veggies, fruits, sauces, dressings — each can have its own designated space. Plus, if something happens to spill, it'll be contained in the bin, which is much easier to clean than an entire sticky fridge shelf.
If the area under your sink has become a black hole of cleaning products (along with who knows what else), these slide-out shelves are here to save the day. Because each one has two levels, you'll maximize space, making it so much easier to find whatever it is you're looking for.
This turntable was designed to maximize space while minimizing food waste. It's rectangular to make the best use of your fridge shelves, and it rotates 360° so you can easily see — and remember — everything you have before it spoils.
Tired of having to clear a path to get to soda or beer at the back of the fridge? No more: These dispensers offer a sleek solution for an overcrowded fridge. Each fits up to 10 standard 12-ounce cans, and when you remove the one at the front, another one automatically rolls down to replace it. By stacking the cans atop one another, you're making better use of shelf space (and freeing up more room for snacks).
"Chick" this out: This egg holder has slots for 14 eggs and a lid so you can stack other items on top to make better use of the room in your fridge. Not only is its clear design more aesthetically pleasing than a cardboard carton, it also lets you see your egg inventory. See? You can count your chickens before they're hatched.
