Seattle Seahawks preseason is over, and now the last major phase before regular season play begins is finally upon us.
The Seahawks enter Sunday with 91 players on the active roster. That number needs to be trimmed to 53 by Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 1 pm PT. After the waiver claims deadline passes at 9 am PT on Wednesday, Aug. 27, teams can start forming their practice squads, which has a 16-player limit with a 17th player permitted if they’re part of the International Player Pathway program).
It’s worth noting that “vested” veterans (aka players with at least four accrued years of NFL experience) are not subject to waivers if they’re released before the trade deadline. For example, Marquez Valdes-Scantling would be an immediate free agent if he’s cut by Seattle, but Dareke Young would have to go through waivers.

- Looks like Chris Stoll is on track for Week 1, as long snapper Zach Triner has been waived.
- UDFA rookie NT Bubba Thomas has been waived, per ESPN’s Brady Henderson.
- Third-year safety Jerrick Reed II has been waived. Injuries set him back in his first two seasons.
- UDFA rookie cornerback Isas Waxter is reportedly off the team, but is another practice squad target.
- Seventh-round rookie running back Damien Martinez has reportedly been cut, but the hope is he’ll make the practice squad.
- Cornerback Damarion Williams is reportedly being waived.
- The Seahawks are trading swing tackle Michael Jerrell to the Atlanta Falcons. They’ll get a conditional 2027 seventh-round pick in return.
No Seahawks transactions were made official on the NFL wire on Sunday, so any news that does come through would be processed on Monday.
