The PGA Tour held its popular Byron Nelson Classic event on Sunday at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas on Sunday, giving the sport's best players a chance to test their skills against each other.
Scottie Scheffler jumped out to an early lead during the tournament and did not look back, driving, chipping and putting his way to a remarkable 31 under final score that beat second place finisher Erik van Rooyen's score by eight strokes.
Scheffler won his first tournament of the season and had a heartfelt message for a legend of the sport after his big day in Texas.

Scheffler said he read a lot about Nelson and had the chance to meet him a few times when he was a kid.
Known by his full name John Byron Nelson, Jr., Nelson played professionally from 1935 to 1946 and is considered to be one of the best golfers of all-time.
