Notre Dame Football: Irish move up two spots in the AP Top 25

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish dropped the hammer on the Purdue Boilermakers to avenge (in some ways) their 0-2 start to the season. Offensively, the Irish scored touchdowns on 6 of its first 8 drives with the non-touchdown drives being a fumble on the first play, and the end of the half (possession was just two seconds). Defensively, there was a lot more hair-pulling in the first half, but we should keep in mind, ND didn’t have Adon Shuler in the first half OR Leonard Moore for the entire game.

So… maybe it wasn’t as rough as it felt.

At any rate, it was enough to rise in the AP Top 25 to #22 and stay put in the Coaches Poll at #21.

Notre Dame’s two losses rose in the rankimngs again this week with the Miami Hurricanes coming in at #2 in the AP Top 25 and Texas A&M at #9. Roll your eyes all you want, but both will be looked at as quality losses once the College Football Playoff committee starts puting its rankings together later this year.

The lone Irish opponent left that is currently ranked is USC who shares the other #21 and #22 with Notre Dame.
