Manchester City set for double striker deal with embargo-hit EFL Championship club

The ongoing pursuit of youth academy talents into Manchester City has continued this week with the arrival of a new highly-rated striker.

Manchester City have made quite the impression with their strides in the ongoing transfer window, securing the arrival of Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders, Marcus Bettinelli and Rayan Cherki in time for the quartet to feature at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

The 2023 treble winners endured their most difficult season under Pep Guardiola last term, finishing third in the Premier League with 71 points, going only as far as the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League and losing the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace.

Kevin De Bruyne has left the club and joined Napoli on a two-year deal after coming to the end of his Manchester City deal, with newly-appointed director of football Hugo Viana spearheading a major squad rebuild at the Etihad Stadium after replacing Txiki Begiristain.

The City first-team squad have returned to Manchester after being eliminated from the Club World Cup at the Round of 16 stage by Al-Hilal, who claimed a narrow 4-3 win in extra-time over Guardiola and co in an enthralling seven-goal tie this week.

Viana and Guardiola are understood to be looking to trim the squad between now and the beginning of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, with City set to sit down with several first-team stars and hold talks over their respective future(s) at the Etihad Stadium.

John Stones has been linked with an exit as the injury-riddled 31-year-old centre-half enters the final year of his current deal. Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips are also expected to find new clubs this summer.

Kyle Walker has returned from a loan stint at AC Milan and has been told to find a new club as he enters the last 12 months of his Manchester City contract, with Guardiola eyeing the addition of a new right-back as a long-term replacement for the out-of-favour Walker.

According to the information of TheSecretScout on X, Premier League giants Manchester City are now set to sign highly-rated youth striker Romario Collins from financially-crippled Sheffield Wednesday.

City are also expected to complete the signing of Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri from Hillsborough this week as the Owls look to bring in cash amid a transfer embargo placed on them by the EFL that has had a detrimental impact on the club’s finances.

Manchester City are expected to witness the permanent departure of academy graduate James McAtee in the coming weeks, with the 22-year-old eyeing regular first-team football to progress his career after captaining the England U-21’s to European Championship glory.

It remains to be seen what the remainder of the summer transfer window has in store for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola, who are raring to go again and challenge for all major trophies next term after a sub-standard 2024-25 season.
