Kompany on emotional Coman goodbye and Supercup importance

Vincent Kompany has confirmed the departure of Kingsley Coman, admitting that Bayern Munich will miss a player of the Frenchman's quality.

Coman has said his goodbyes to the Bayern squad this week and will join Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

And speaking ahead of the German Supercup clash with Stuttgart this weekend, Kompany has insisted thoughts now turn to winning the first silverware of the season.

"When such a successful player leaves the club, it's always emotional," he said.

"We also have to understand his decision and what he wants. We have a lot of respect for what he's done. From my point of view, the priority is the players who are here in the squad.

"I've won [the Supercup] a few times in my career and I know from experience that it's important if you've won it.

"If you haven't, you say it's not that important. For us as a club, every title is important, so this one is important as well. We want to win tomorrow."

Kompany then commented on the importance of bedding in young players this term.

"We're very proud when we can bring young players from the Campus into the first team, like Lennart Karl.

"Not only him, we even promoted players who were with the U17s four or five months ago. But of course, not everyone can become a Bayern player right away.

"It also depends on the position; not everyone can play right away. And it's also normal that not everyone makes it straight to the first team. But in the long run, we're in a good position when it comes to our young players, and they'll get their chance over the course of the season."
