In recent years, Real Madrid have done a fantastic job of luring players and signing them on a free contract.
The likes of Antonio Rudiger, Trent and David Alaba are perfect examples, and it appears the list could expand next year, with Ibrahima Konate emerging as a likely signing.
However, Real Madrid’s list may not just end with Konate, as it appears the club are in contention to sign Dayot Upamecano as well.
Upamecano offers himself to Real Madrid
In a major development, MARCA reports that Upamecano has offered himself to Real Madrid. It appears the player is determined to don the white jersey and is therefore ready to leave his current club Bayern Munich.
Upamecano is a regular for Bayern, who had signed him on a big-money deal from RB Leipzig in 2021. Since then, the defender has racked up over 150 competitive appearances for the Bavarians.

Although Upamecano has been criticised in the past for his lack of consistency and occasional loss of concentration, he remains a gifted centre-back who adds technical and physical qualities to the backline.
The report suggests that Real Madrid may have other priorities in the market right now, but given Upamecano’s contract situation – his deal in Bavaria is set to expire at the end of the season – Real Madrid could be open to a deal.
Upamecano is not expected to renew his contract at Bayern either, thus paving the way for him to leave on a free transfer next summer.
It must be noted that Konate and Upamecano are regulars for the French national team, and their combined synergy could go a long way in adding more strength to the Real Madrid backline.
This, coupled with Konate’s contract situation, makes him an ideal target for Los Blancos as they look to move on from David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger next season.
