Of course, 30 minutes after Thomas Tuchel's first squad announcement and around an hour-and-a-half before the man gets the chance to explain his choices, everyone is managing to remain calm...

  3. Analysis: 'Tuchel squad emphasising physicality of English game'published at 09:27 Greenwich Mean Time

    Alex Howell
BBC football news reporter at Wembley

Thomas Tuchel said he wanted to emphasise the physicality of the English game when he was announced.

So with Burn, Henderson, Rogers, Walker, James and Rashford that definitely fits with that message.

We'll hear from Tuchel later this morning and we'll be asking him to explain his squad selection.

A massive snub to Morgan Gibbs White who has been incredible for Forest. Did Tuchel not see his pass for Hudson-Odoi on Saturday? And Foden, who was completely absent against Forest, takes MGW's place? Ridiculous.

    Neil, Nottingham

How on earth does Morgan Gibbs White not get in that squad??

    Max, Sheffield

So gutted a Forest player didn't make the cut this time. When we've been having such a great season too! Especially Morgan Gibbs-White. Understand there is a lot of competition for his role, but I just know he could prove his doubters wrong!

  5. 'Burn's call-up one of great football stories' - Howepublished at 09:23 Greenwich Mean Time

But someone who is very much IN is Newcastle United's Dan Burn, for the very first time at the age of 32.

Club manager Eddie Howe has just been speaking in his news conference before Sunday's Carabao Cup final and has called Burn's selection "one of the great football stories".

"Incredible moment for Dan. I have to say there is no one more deserving in my opinion. Starting to work with Dan when we did, came in during our relegation battle. Just such an inspiring guy but also a very talented player," Howe said.

"I think it is a great story really, one of the great football stories, one of the great comebacks.

"Someone who had to do it the real hard way, coming through the leagues. Dedicated, professional, a leader, a real man, an inspirational figure."

Who are you most bothered about missing out?

There's no Ollie Watkins, who went off injured against Club Brugge in midweek. Injured Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is also missing.

Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White, Manchester United's Harry Maguire, Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher are all absent.

  7. 55 players spoken to before announcementpublished at 09:16 Greenwich Mean Time

Thomas Tuchel planned his squad announcement for Friday to take into account the English players playing on Thursday in Europe for Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Over the past few weeks, Tuchel has spoken to more than 55 players individually on the phone, sources told BBC Sport. FA chief Mark Bullingham said Tuchel was "building connections".

Tuchel has been partly working remotely from Germany, although Bullingham clarified last week that Tuchel is based at St George's Park and living in London.

The England boss is often shown on TV cameras at Premier League matches and travelled to Milan to watch Kyle Walker, Madrid to see Jude Bellingham and also been to Germany to watch England captain Harry Kane.

Tuchel's assistant Anthony Barry has also been to watch games individually and Tuchel has been at St George's Park between two to three days a week, with his backroom team planning next week's camp.

Henderson in while leaving out Wharton is frankly laughable. Has Southgate picked the squad for him?

    Tom

Rather disappointed with the England squad. It's almost like Southgate hasn't gone. If the answer is Henderson, what was the question?

    Richard, Kent

Henderson? Walker? I was hoping to get excited about a New England era. Same old.

  9. Tuchel talks later this morningpublished at 09:10 Greenwich Mean Time

So far you have given an overwhelmingly negative reaction to the inclusion of Ajax midfielder Jordan Henderson.

There is room for Marcus Rashford, but Jack Grealish is among those to miss out.

A huge day for both Dan Burn and Myles Lewis-Skelly with their first call-ups.

We'll hear from Thomas Tuchel about the choices he has made at 11:00 GMT this morning.

Aaron Wan Bissaka is unlucky not to have much noise around a recall. A bright spark in a poor WHU season. Was told to expect a solid defender with little forward output but has goals and assists to his name and never stops running for the team.

  15. 'Once it comes around, that is my main ambition - to be picked in that squad' - Branthwaitepublished at 08:57 Greenwich Mean Time

Everton defender Jarrad Baranthwaite is set to miss out on the England squad, according to Mike McGrath of The Daily Telegraph.

On Thursday he told BBC Sport about the "motivation" from not making the squad last summer. The Three Lions reached the final of the Euros, losing to Spain. Brathwaite said: "I missed out recently with a big squad and I don't want that feeling again.

"That gave me motivation to [make sure] every game I play is my best to help my club and then give myself the best possible chance to be in the England squad."

Branthwaite has unfortunately missed out on the first England squad picked by Thomas Tuchel as it is reported that the German coach has opted to go with Dan Burn of Newcastle United.
