According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, behind the scenes Inter have continued to give reassurances to Ademola Lookman.
The Nerazzurri have told the 27-year-old that they have not given up on signing him.
However, the Gazzetta report, Inter also know that the margins for them to sign Lookman are getting thinner with each passing day.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri are also considering what their next step would be if their pursuit collapses entirely.
One option would be for Inter to go after an opportunity in attack like Christopher Nkunku late in the window.
Alternatively, the Nerazzurri could simply rely on the forwards they have, as well as midfielders like Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Davide Frattesi to make up the numbers in attack.
