Bills vs. Dolphins, Week 3 second-half open thread

At the half, the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins are tied 14-14. With a short week to prepare, one can never be too certain about how things will play out during Thursday Night Football. Sometimes the woe-begotten team catches fire at the worst time for the heavy favorites. Right now, it’s fair to say that the Bills aren’t playing well on defense, and even worst in all facets of special teams.

Things got off to a rocky start with a long kickoff return by Miami that gave them first possession at Buffalo’s 47-yard line. From there, the Dolphins drove 52 yards in 10 plays, using up 6:29 of game clock to finish with a surprising opening-drive touchdown.

The Bills got things under control soon after, while the Dolphins stalled on offense until the very end of the half. Following a rare sack of Allen and then an equally rare missed field goal attempt by Matt Prater, Miami played ball control on offense, using another 5:55 of game clock to run out all but eight seconds of the half en route to another touchdown.

The Bills receive the opening kick of the second half, and they’d be wise to find a bit more energy inside the locker room. Quarterback Josh Allen and the offense have played well, but they only had three drives. Running back James Cook has played like a star whenever his number’s called.

It’s clear that the Dolphins are intent on limiting Allen’s time on the field, so it will be interesting to see what defensive coordinator Bobby Babich and offensive coordinator Joe Brady cook up for the second half. Whatever that is, the Bills need to play better to finish the evening if they hope to win.

Here’s your open thread for the rest of tonight’s game. As always, be kind to one another — and in all things… Go Bills!
