Finnish construction company YIT has secured a turnkey contract with Pohjola Insurance, a financial services group, for the construction of a new business property in Hatanpää, Tampere, Finland.
Pohjola Insurance, which was earlier known as OP Insurance, will act as the developer and owner of the property, which is set to encompass approximately 10,000 gross square metres of office space across five floors.
The project's scope includes the main building and a parking facility within the same block. This parking facility will also be available for neighbouring properties.
The planning phase of the project will be a collaborative effort with the end user to ensure all prerequisites for implementation are met.
The final agreements for implementation and leasing are scheduled to be signed by mid-2025. Construction is set to begin at the start of 2026.
OP Real Estate Asset Management director Markku Mäkiaho said: "This new project meets the investment needs of Pohjola Insurance, which has a long-term investment plan. The investment will develop the operating conditions of a strong user company in Tampere, while also creating new jobs in the region”
YIT regional director Sami Viitanen said: "We are pleased that with YIT's service model, we can bring all of our development expertise to support the project and offer the customer and the user of the premises a competitive design solution for further development and implementation together.
"The project is located in Tampere along good public tram connections. We thank Pohjola Insurance, which as an investor will enable the implementation of this modern office project."
This development follows YIT's selection by the City of Espoo in Finland earlier this month for the renovation and expansion of the Tapiola Swimming Hall. The agreement is set to be formally signed once the city’s procurement decision is made in the following months.
