Yankees Rookie Accomplishes What Judge’s Never Managed

A career night for Domínguez delivered a stat even Judge can’t claim.

Jasson Domínguez may be in just the very beginning of his major league career, the one-time New York Yankees top prospect has already done something that Aaron Judge still has not done.

Dominguez hammered three home runs in Friday night’s game. It was the first multi-home run game for the 22-year-old outfielder. Judge, who holds the American League record for home runs in a single season, has had many multi-homer games in his career.

But he’s never hit three in one game.

Domínguez belted three home runs, marking the first multi-homer game of his major league career. The highlight came in the eighth inning when he crushed his first career grand slam, sealing the Yankees' 10-3 win over the Athletics in their temporary stadium, Sutter Health Park.

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez runs the bases after hitting his first career grand slam on May 9, 2025, against the Athletics at Sutter Health Park.

Domínguez's offensive explosion began early in the game.

In the third inning, he connected for a solo shot, setting the tone for the evening. He followed up with another homer in the fifth, but saved his best for last. He hit his first career grand slam in the eighth.

“When I hit that third one, I just said ‘No Way,',” Dominguez told YES Network’s Meredith Marakovitz. “It was awesome.”

These home runs highlight Domínguez's raw power and versatility at the plate. Notably, the switch-hitter’s first home run of the night was his first in the big leagues from the right-hand side.

Domínguez becomes the youngest Yankee to hit three home runs in a single game since Joe DiMaggio in 1937.

Dominguez has been the most anticipated Yankees’ prospect since he signed a franchise record $5.1 million signing bonus as a 16-year-old. After an initial bang when he came up in 2023, he’s had a slow start to his career. Learning to play left field, there were times this spring and early season when Yankees fans had to wonder if he was ready for the big leagues.

Friday night, Dominguez proved he’s ready.
