Aaron Judge adds another achievement to his legendary Yankees career.
In a career full of standout moments, Aaron Judge added another on Sunday with his 44th career multi-homer game, the most ever through a player's first 1,076 career games, according to the Yankees' postgame notes.
That places Judge among the Yankees’ most iconic players. He's on a short list with legends like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and Lou Gehrig.
With his two home runs on Sunday, Judge now sits third on the Yankees’ all-time list for multi-homer games, behind only Ruth (68) and Mantle (46).
But what makes Judge's accomplishment even more impressive is the fact that he achieved it in fewer games than any of the other greats.
He has accomplished this feat in just 1,075 games, surpassing the number of games it took both Ruth and Mantle to reach similar achievements. This underscores Judge's consistent power-hitting and his ability to deliver in clutch moments.
It is also another reminder that we are watching a generational talent.
It was Judge's first multi-home run game since June 8 and his fifth of the season.
It's obviously a good sign for the Yankees, who had been shut out by the A's the day before. They also had a brutal stretch this month in which they were shut out in three straight games for the first time in over a century.
When asked if he derived momentum from hitting a home run earlier in the game, Judge shook his head.
"Maybe, but more from my teammates and what they were doing," Judge said.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Cody Bellinger also homered in Sunday's offensive breakout.
