Jack Draper's quest for his first Wimbledon title ended far earlier than expected. Draper, who came into the tournament as the No. 4 ranked man, was eliminated by Marin Cilic in the second round Thursday.
Cilic defeated Draper in four sets (6-4, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4) to claim the victory.
Draper picked up the loss despite fewer unforced errors compared to Cilic. Draper also registered zero double faults against Cilic's six, but still lost the match.

Cilic was able to win the match with strong ball placement. He picked up 53 winners against Draper's 29 in the win.
With the win, Cilic, who entered Wimbledon ranked No. 83 by the ATP, will advance to the third round of the event for the ninth time in his career. He made it all the way to the final in 2017, where he fell to Roger Federer. While Cilic has never won Wimbledon, he has performed well there, posting a 69 winning percentage entering Thursday's match.
Despite his rank, Draper, 23, has had a tough time at Wimbledon. Entering play Thursday, Draper had a 43 percent winning percentage during the tournament, and had never advanced past the second round.
