White Sox Minor League Update: September 17, 2025

The Knights (63-83) came up short against Durham for the second straight game, falling to 0-2 in their final series of the season.

Knights starter Evan McKendry, 27, got off to a strong start on the mound, retiring the first 11 batters he faced. However, with two outs and nobody on in the fourth, Bryan Ramos committed an error to extend the inning. From there, Dominic Keegan singled, and Tristan Peters launched a three-run homer. The two-out error made it so that all of those runs were unearned, but regardless, the damage was done, and the Bulls led from that point forward.

In the fifth, reliever Tommy Vail retired the first batter he faced, but the next two Bulls reached base safely against him. Kameron Misner walked, and Tre’ Morgan singled, which prompted a pitching change and brought Cam Booser into the game. Booser issued a walk and a two-run double to make the score 5-0. The Bulls would score one more run that inning on a wild pitch (on a strikeout, oddly enough) by Luke Bell. This marked Durham’s second consecutive three-run inning.

Entering the bottom of the sixth, the Knights were trailing by a score of 6-0, but they finally got on the board. Jacob Amaya, Corey Julks, and Ben Cowles hit three consecutive singles to make the score 6-1, and a productive ground out by Tim Elko brought in Charlotte’s second run. Julks proceeded to finish with three of Charlotte’s eight hits.

In the seventh, Jacob Amaya launched his ninth home run of the season.

This capped off a nice game for Amaya, whose OPS with Charlotte is .802 in 55 games this season.

However, the Knights did not get any closer, and the Bulls padded their lead with a solo homer by Cooper in the top of the ninth off Zach Franklin. Nobody reached base for the Knights in the bottom of the ninth, so Durham held on for a 7-3 victory.
