Wednesday Cheese Curds: Packers hype train gains steam

With a couple of small exceptions (some untimely penalties and some lingering small injuries) the Packers’ 2025 season has started about as well as it possibly could have. The Packers are 2-0, their offense is playing well, their defense is playing well, and the rest of the division already looks like it’s on life support.

It’s only natural to ask how high the Packers could climb this year. Can they go all the way? Can they win literally every single game?

Nothing is impossible, but it’s worth remembering that even the best teams can stumble at the worst possible times. The 2011 Packers were a flawed juggernaut that still should have gone to the Super Bowl, but for a bad performance against a team well-suited to playing the exact style of football that could beat the Packers.

It’s easy to envision such a performance for this year’s Packers team. Even within the NFC North, the Lions and Vikings are still respectable opponents. A wrong move against a well-equipped, well-coached team could see a Sunday end with a mark in the loss column for the Packers.

There’s a lot of season left. How the Packers begin is no indication of how they’ll finish. The best strategy is to just enjoy what they’re doing now and let the rest of the season fall where it may.

McKinney is not interested in a seat aboard the Packers’ hype train.

For a polar opposite perspective, here are your odds if you want to put down real money for the Packers to win the Super Bowl.

Speaking of betting, I just want to throw this link in here and point out that it’s awfully early to be taking any kind of victory lap on gambling-related stuff, even if nothing has popped up in the last two years.

Whose hot starts are sustainable? Who will falter?

Belton had a decent enough debut, but if he’s in the lineup this weekend, he could be facing Myles Garrett.

As many former Packers as there are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, there arguably should be even more, but it’ll be a challenge to get them there.

Things are heating up in the world of professional stone skimming.
