Minnesota Timberwolves icon Kevin Garnett remembered Los Angeles Lakers fans after his former team took the purple and gold out of the 2025 NBA playoffs with a 4-1 win.
After a solid regular season that saw them clinch the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference standings, the Lakers had the fourth-best odds to win the NBA Finals (+1300) while the No. 6 Timberwolves were ninth (+4000) out of the 16 playoff teams, per ESPN BET.
Following a surprising Game 1 win, the Timberwolves made it clear they wouldn't be an easy opponent. Anthony Edwards took over and posted 26.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per outing over five games, sending LeBron James and Luka Doncic home.
Garnett saw all the taunting that Lakers fans did before and during the series and clapped back at them with a message on Instagram. The former NBA MVP called them out for celebrating in advance and not taking the Timberwolves seriously.
"Dammnnn ... Were's alllll the Lakers in 5 ENERGY AT ... Damn ... Hello.... Cmon man.. same energy... RESPECT YOUR OPPONENT.." Garnett wrote.

Garnett has a history with the 17-time NBA champions after several battles in the West during his time with the Timberwolves and the two Finals they played when KG was a member of the Boston Celtics.
Although he hasn't been as aggressive as others, there's no love lost between Garnett and the Lakers. Now, the Timberwolves will wait to see if the Golden State Warriors or the Houston Rockets make it to the next round.
