Australia’s The Coffee Club has entered the African market with a new store in Nairobi, Kenya.

The expansion is part of the company’s broader plan to establish a presence across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania through a partnership with Luqman Petroleum.

The Coffee Club, in collaboration with its Middle East and Africa franchise partner Liwa Minor, aims to open 25 locations in East Africa up to 2034.

Minor stated on LinkedIn: “We are proud to announce the opening of The Coffee Club’s first-ever store on the African continent, located in Nairobi, Kenya – a city renowned for its energy, innovation and deep-rooted coffee heritage.”

“This milestone not only marks the beginning of The Coffee Club’s journey in East Africa, but also demonstrates the strength of our regional franchise model, powered by global brand standards and local insight.”

The Coffee Club aims to blend international coffee experiences with local tastes and preferences.

The Coffee Club has partnered with local roaster Dormans Coffee to ensure the authenticity and freshness of its coffee.

Kenya’s Agriculture and Food Authority director general Dr Bruno Linyiru explained that the Nairobi store aligns with Kenya’s Bottom-Up Transformation Agenda (BETA).

BETA focuses on promoting value addition, market development, sustainability and youth employment through increased domestic coffee consumption.

Founded in Brisbane in 1989 by Emmanuel Kokoris and Emmanuel Drivas, The Coffee Club now operates more than 400 stores across nine countries.
