A suspected hand grenade has been found by a magnet fisher in Leeds city centre, police said.
West Yorkshire Police received a report of an old grenade having been found at 12:38 GMT on Sunday in the River Aire off Meadow Lane.
Emergency services attended the scene and a cordon was put in place "as a precaution for public safety".
Army bomb disposal experts then removed the grenade for a controlled detonation.
