Shedeur Sanders Caught Off Guard by Browns Defender at First Day of Rookie Minicamp

The Cleveland Browns held their first day of rookie minicamp on Friday with Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel and others taking center stage.

Coach Kevin Stefanski and a throng of media oversaw the action in Cleveland, Ohio as fans and media pined for a glimpse of Sanders, the former Colorado Buffaloes superstar quarterback who was selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft, far lower than originally anticipated.

The Browns' quest for a starting caliber future quarterback led to Gabriel taking the first snaps of the practice, but Sanders turned heads both on and off the field as he was embraced by a Browns teammate during a viral video segment that was caught on camera.

Sanders was caught off guard by Browns teammate Martin Emerson, a fourth year cornerback out of Mississippi State who did his best to welcome the media darling and first-year player.

The video was viewed over 600,000 times as of Friday night as fans reacted in the comments section.

"There is a reason people gravitate to him, when that is other players it says a lot," a reader related in the comments.

"I want this man as our QB1 so incredibly bad," another said.

"For a fifth round pick the Browns (are) giving a lot of attention to this particular player," another added.

"Already COMMANDING the respect of the veterans you love to see it," another fan said. "QB1."

"This is cool," another fan said. "You can already tell Browns players want him to succeed."
