Robert Griffin III Thinks Angel Reese Is Lying About Her Feelings on Caitlin Clark

The Indiana Fever took on the Chicago Sky on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse during the WNBA 2025 season’s inaugural weekend.

Midway through the third quarter upon witnessing what she thought was a foul against teammate Natasha Howard, Fever guard Caitlin Clark delivered hard contact to Sky forward Angel Reese that sent her to the floor. Reese, 23, immediately got up and attempted to engage in an argument with Clark.

During the confrontation, Reese was heard shouting multiple expletives at the former Iowa Hawkeye, who received a flagrant foul for her actions. Following the incident during a postgame interview Reese didn’t have much to say on the altercation other than “it’s a basketball play” and “to move on.”

Former NFL quarterback-turned-analyst Robert Griffin III didn’t like what he saw and thought the former LSU Tiger was lying about her feelings. Griffin, 35, insisted that Reese hates Clark personally.

“After watching Caitlin Clark’s flagrant foul on Angel Reese and the aftermath, there is now way Angel Reese can continue the lie that she doesn’t dislike Caitlin Clark,” the former NFL quarterback wrote on X. “I know what hatred looks like. Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark. Not some basketball rivalry hate either. Hate.”

Fans didn’t take Griffin’s comment lightly and shared their opinion on Griffin’s statement. “There is no rivalry,” one wrote. “Just Reese hating Clark, and Clark having better things to worry about.”

“It was a basketball play,” another commented. “That’s all. Angel (Reese) overreacted.”

Despite Griffin's and fans' reaction, the Fever would go on to defeat the Sky 93-58. Clark finished her first outing of the season with a 20-point, 10-rebound and 10-assist triple-double.

Meanwhile, Reese finished her first outing by recording a 12-point and 17-rebound double-double. Last season as a rookie, she recorded 20 double-doubles and broke Tina Charles' rookie record.
