The Boston Red Sox have the best farm system in Major League Baseball, and fans are starting to see that. While Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, and Kristian Campbell haven’t exactly found much success at the big league level early on, with Campbell going back to Triple-A, it's far too early to panic.
The expectation is for players like them to struggle when they first come up, despite being some of the top prospects in the game.
But as the Red Sox continue to look for young talent, they’ll have an opportunity to do so in the MLB draft. MLB.com recently predicted that they’d select Brandon Summerhill out of Arizona, an outfielder who might be a bit closer to playing in the big leagues than a high school bat.

“The college hitter options here could be Summerhill, Houston or Irish. If they want a college pitcher, Santa Barbara righty Tyler Bremner could be in play. The one high school player who has come up at all here is Fien,” they wrote.
The Red Sox hold the 15th overall pick and will have many options to choose from. This is a very strong draft class, with a few potential stars among it.
Adding another outfielder would be somewhat questionable, but with rumors suggesting the Red Sox could move on from Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu, it's possible that the team could look to draft another outfielder to eventually replace one of those players.
During the 2025 season at Arizona, Summerhill swung the bat at a high level, hitting .343 with a 1.015 OPS. His power numbers were a bit down compared to his 2024 campaign with the Wildcats, where he hit eight home runs. However, he's a good bat-to-ball hitter, and there's reason to believe he could figure out his power problems in the professional ranks.
