Rams' Blake Corum usage throws a wrench into Kyren Williams' RB depth chart outlook

For a long time, Kyren Williams has been one of the surest things in the NFL.

If the Los Angeles Rams were handing the football off, it was almost certainly to Williams. He was one of the last few running back workhorses remaining in a league that has happily gone to multi-layered RB plans.

On Sunday, though, that might have begun to change.

Blake Corum saw ample work despite Williams being fully healthy. The Rams may be opting to go with the new trend rather than ride Williams into the ground.

"After running back Kyren Williams played 80.7% of the Rams' offensive snaps in Week 1, Blake Corum saw an increase in snaps," ESPN's Sarah Barshop wrote. "Corum played 30.5% of offensive snaps and had 44 yards and a touchdown on five carries. Williams (69.5% of snaps) ran for 66 yards on 17 carries, but 33 of those yards came on the final drive."

There are definitely a lot of fantasy football managers who have Williams and are wondering what's going on.

It's a bit too early to make rash judgments here. After all, it is just one week.

But it's a week that is far different from essentially all of Williams' recent weeks, and so it has the potential to matter.

Week 3 will be very telling. If Corum gets this much or more work again, it'll be clear he's fully into the running back rotation.

Or maybe Williams will come back and get every carry and look like himself again.

Time will tell.
