Prime Video Faces Backlash for Fever-Dream Game Decision

The Indiana Fever look to back in the win column when they face the Atlanta Dream on May 22.

The Fever took their first loss of the season against the Dream at Gainbridge Fieldhouse just two days earlier. Fever guard Caitlin Clark scored 27 points with 11 assists, 5.0 rebounds during the 91-90 defeat.

Clark, who now has the most 25-point, 10-assist games in WNBA history, turned the attention to her teammate, DeWanna Bonner, before tipoff on Thursday.

With the court reading, "Pay Some Respect to Women's Sports" instead of the regular logo at State Farm Arena, Clark was asked which player she'd like to pay her respects.

"Honestly, (Bonner) moving into third all-time, I don't see people talking about that enough," Clark answered. "I don't think people realize how big of a deal that is.

"It's hard to believe that Tina Charles and (Diana Taurasi) are the only two people in front of her. Two people who have also given a lot to the game."

Fans tuning into see Clark and Bonner play during the Fever-Dream rematch, however, missed a lot of the game, which was airing exclusively on Amazon's Prime Video. During the second quarter, instead of showing the game, the streaming network played a lengthy series of commercials.

One fan posted on X, "Commercials are cutting into game time. Missed over 2 minutes of gameplay after the first Q. Mid 2nd Q commercials are cutting at least 5 min of gameplay Amazon prime fix this. "

One person wrote, "Amazon Prime's production of the Fever-Dream game is terrible." One X user complained, "Amazon Prime doing a terrible job broadcasting Indiana Fever Atlanta Dream game. Pathetic!"

Another fan noted, "This Amazon prime Indiana Fever game is bush league. Random jump cuts missing seconds of play, awful commentary duo, no replay on key moments, commercial in progress animation? This feels like I’m watching a high school basketball game. WNBA is unserious."
