Paige Bueckers Praises 'Workhorse' Dallas Wings Teammate

Aug 18, 2025 3:16 PM EDT

On Wednesday, the Dallas Wings fell to the Las Vegas Aces, losing 106-87. For the second game in a row against Dallas, A’ja Wilson scored 30-plus points, and the Wings were never really in it.

The young Wings, led by Paige Bueckers, have started to let their frustrations show. Inexperience, both on the court and from the coaches, has caught up to the Wings in what will be a quickly forgotten season.

Of course, priority number one in Dallas remains building a foundational roster and core around Bueckers, and some young pieces appear to be set in stone. Maddy Siegrist, in just her sixth start of the season, led the team with 23 points and added two blocks and two steals for good measure.

As an oversized wing, her ability to space the floor and impact the defensive effort did not go unnoticed.

“Just her getting to her spots, her posting up a little defenders, shooting over the top, and just being an opportunity basketball player,” praised Bueckers. “Getting out in transition, getting easy layups that way. She’s just a workhorse. The game comes to her, and she takes full advantage of that.”

All great point guards, Bueckers included, benefit greatly from space to work with, and Siegrist provides that better than most. Despite shooting only 27.7 percent from deep this season, she runs down the floor, setting up easy buckets on offense while slowing down some of the best players in the WNBA on the opposite end of the floor.
