Paige Bueckers' surprise gesture proves her affection for Dallas and the Wings

The 2025 WNBA playoffs feature many of the league's superstars battling it out for the right to be called a WNBA champion. It isn't Paige Bueckers' time just yet, but the Wings point guard is trying to lay the groundwork for a future championship contention cycle in Dallas.

In her rookie year, Bueckers stood out among first-year players, leading the field in points and assists per game while bringing her lethal mid-range shot from the NCAA to the WNBA. Though the Wings struggled to a 10-34 record, Bueckers is all-in on Dallas -- as her latest gesture within the organization demonstrates.

Bueckers has gifted new athletic shoes to each member of the Wings' practice squad, commemorating their first season together with a token of appreciation for the way she was challenged day in and day out as her first professional season comes to a close.

The Wings will be active this offseason as general manager Curt Miller seeks avenues that will get Dallas closer to its first playoff berth since 2023. Re-signing All-Star guard Arike Ogunbowale has been identified as a priority, while the Wings could either deal its top 2026 draft pick -- possibly first overall -- for an immediate boost, or use it on a top prospect, such as UConn guard Azzi Fudd.
