One of the best cordless stick vacuums we've ever tested is down to a record-low $87 ahead of Prime Day

If you're lucky, your holiday weekend is filled with family, friends, food and fun — which means come the workweek, there will probably be some cleaning up to do. Yes, it's a buzzkill to remind you of that so early into America's birthday extravaganza, and we do apologize. But let us make up for it by reminding you that Amazon's Fourth of July sale is happening as you read this, and included in that sale is a tool that'll give you an assist with spiffing up on Monday. The Kenmore Elite Cordless Stick Vacuum, normally priced at $150, has been slashed to $87 just in time for a post-festivities assist.

You'll probably be tired after the weekend, so here's some good news on this bad boy: It only weighs 6 pounds. Also? It's a carpet-cleaning beast.

Why is it a good deal? 💰

Quality stick vacuums regularly sell for well over $100. The best ones, in fact, usually cost three times that. This vac is already on sale for $109, and a 20%-off on-page coupon gives you double discounts. Translation? You'll get over 40% off a quality cleaner-upper that can tackle your carpets, upholstery and even those hard-to-reach places that regularly get encrusted with many years' worth of dust (hello, ceiling fans!).

Why do I need this? 🤔

You might be asking yourself, "Can a sub-$100 vac really give me the cleaning power I need?" The answer is yes, and there's a product testing pro to back that claim up. Yahoo Home & Garden Writer Kristin Granero tested 14 cordless vacuums earlier this year, and the Kenmore got top billing as the best value option. She noted that it was lightweight and therefore moved "swiftly yet gently," also touting its HEPA filter, 40-minute runtime, multiple lights that help illuminate grime and an extra-large dust cup that meant she didn't have to keep running to the trash can.

Granero further noted that this pick earned the nickname "Tinker Bell" during testing for its quickness and those glowing lights. "It was easy to set up — three main parts, three clicks — and can be charged in the wall mount dock or plugged right into an outlet," she added. "It contains a HEPA filter for capturing 99.97% of pixie (er, dust) particles and features an LCD display that illuminates different colors to indicate charge level and motor speed. You use the switch to start and stop, and can toggle between modes via the button on top (no need to keep holding)." Take that, Dyson!

What reviewers say 💬

Amazon shoppers love this vacuum for its easy assembly, maneuverability and serious suction capability.

Pros 👍

I’ll admit I have a problem with collecting vacuums, but only because I keep searching for 'the one.' I think with this Kenmore cordless vacuum, I have finally found the one to warm my cold, bitter heart," said one rejuvenated reviewer. "I clean my entire home, plus car, plus it’s great for cleaning my toddler’s car seat, which is the cleanest I’ve seen it in a couple of years! Get it, you won’t regret it."

"Better than my Dyson," said a Kenmore convert. "To turn the vacuum on, you just flip a switch, and it stays on. On the Dyson, you have to keep the button pressed to run it, something that annoyed me from the start. ... And it comes with lights — a huge plus! I am noticing more pet hair on my floor with the lighting."

A final fan shared a sentiment that other buyers echoed. "I almost never write reviews, but this vacuum ... makes me want to vacuum every day," noted a tidy buyer. "I’ve been using it daily for about a month. I clean my entire main floor and can do the stairs before it needs a charge."

Cons 👎

While most buyers enjoy the Kenmore stick vac, others dinged it for minor issues.

"[It] does a great job picking up dog hair, and the receptacle is large and transparent, so [it's] easy to see when to empty it," said one shopper. "But it's too loud for me. It has a very high-pitch whir, and I am noise-sensitive. I ordered earplugs so I can use it. The convenience makes it worth it."

"Had this for two years now and it still works good," noted another user. "Hair is an issue, but that's with any vacuum with a roller — just have to cut it out."

A vacuum that doesn't suck in the best way possible? Yep, you've found it.
