Ohio State commit Brock Boyd breaks 20-year old Southlake Carroll (TX) record

On Monday, Ohio State commit Brock Boyd acknowledged that he had broken a Southlake Carroll (TX) record that has stood for 20 years.

Boyd posted on X that he has officially become the Dragons’ all-time receiving yards leader, breaking the 20-year old mark previously set by McKay Jacobson. The new record set after a 90-yard effort last week by the future Buckeye is now at 3,034 yards and counting. Boyd certainly on pace to add a few hundred more yards to the new milestone by the time he finishes his senior season.

The senior wide receiver is coming off a benchmark junior campaign in which he hauled in 111 receptions for 1,868 yards and 19 touchdowns for the Dragons in 2024. As a sophomore in 2023 for Southlake Carroll, Boyd broke out on the scene with 57 catches for 797 yards and seven scores.

“I think first thing that jumps off the page is detailed route runner,” Southlake Carroll head coach Riley Dodge said to Rivals’ Vice President of Recruiting and Transfer Portal Steve Wiltfong back in April of Boyd. “Understands coverages, understands the voids are in defenses. I think that’s nowadays uncommon with high schoolers, especially wide receiver position. Not just being a route runner but understanding where the holes are at. I think his ball get-off is elite and one thing he does better than most is catch radius. He can really flip his hips, elevate and high point the ball.”
