After a summer of working toward a move to Bayern Munich, former VfB Stuttgart attacker Nick Woltemade was forced to change plans and head to Newcastle United due to the inability for Bayern and Stuttgart to finalize a deal. That was tough for Woltemade, who eventually was convinced that a move to England was the right move for him.

Woltemade also recently touched on the awkwardness of VfB Stuttgart rejecting so many Bayern Munich offers, while having to be in the locker room with his teammates every day.

”It’s no secret that I could have very well imagined a move to FC Bayern – for the same sporting reasons that now spoke in favour of Newcastle. I wanted to take the next step as a player — the Premier League is the best league. Newcastle showed me a clear plan and a very convincing perspective. The club also has a family feeling. In the end, it quickly became clear to me that I was very happy to accept this challenge,” Woltemade told Abendzeitung (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “It wasn’t always easy for me. That’s why it was very important that everything was normal in the dressing room. My teammates and the staff treated me normally and always tried to support me as best as possible.”

No doubt, Woltemade will find brighter lights and a bigger stage in the Premier League. Is he ready for that kind of jump? His performances for the German national team of late have — at least — left some doubt.

Bayern Munich is in a very interesting part of its season, which is sandwiched between two international breaks. What should we expect? Will Vincent Kompany be able to manage it effectively? There is a lot to discuss.
