Ahead of Thursday’s Game 2 in Oklahoma City, the NBA made a historical announcement regarding Thunder superstar point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander after he was named regular season MVP on Wednesday night.

The NBA announced that Shai became just the fourth player in NBA history to average 32 or more points, five or more rebounds and five or more assists per game and win the MVP award in the same season.

Shai joined elite company on this short list as he joins Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan and Kevin Durant as the only other players to do so in league history.

This is a major accomplishment for Shai and it tells how historic his season was, which resulted in him beating out Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets to win his first career MVP award.
