Nativity’s Dolbin, Marian’s Tom medal in long jump at State Championships

SHIPPENSBURG — Two Schuylkill County athletes earned medals on the first day of the 2025 PIAA Track and Field Championships.

Nativity BVM senior Noah Dolbin took third place in the boys long jump with a distance of 22 feet, 7 inches.

Jacob Tom of Marian Catholic finished in seventh place in the same event with a jump of 21-11.5.

“We have a great group of guys here,” Dolbin said. “We’ve been ready to support each other and compete so it’s going to be a great two days.”

Dolbin has the chance to earn three more medals on Saturday.

He qualified for the finals in the boys 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.15 seconds, and the 300-meter hurdles with a 38.78, the second best time of day one.

Dolbin is also a member of Nativity’s 4×400 relay team, which won the state title in 2024, and advanced to Saturday’s finals with a time of 3 minutes, 25.58 seconds.

Pine Grove’s Viktorya Luckenbach put herself in position for the podium in the girls 100-meter dash, running the day’s best time of 11.95 seconds to secure a spot in the finals.

The Pine Grove 4×100 squad featuring Luckenbach, Bella Kassab, Aubrey Aungst and Molly Drumheller finished in 50.04 seconds in the preliminary round to qualify for the finals on Saturday.

Minersville junior Paiten LaPoint ran an 11.02 to qualify for the boys 100-meter dash finals, and followed with a 22.76 to reach the finals in the 200. He medaled in both events last year.

Other Schuylkill athletes slated to compete on Saturday are Minersville’s Kolin Long (boys 3200) and Maggie Hoffman-Long (girls triple-jump), along with Nativity’s Nolan Daynorowicz in the boys 800 and Pottsville’s Alexa Giuffre in AAA girls long jump.

The Schuylkill Haven girls and Nativity boys will both field teams in the 4×800 relay.

Day Two of the PIAA Track and Field Championships will get underway at 9 a.m. Saturday, beginning with the girls 3200.
