Nationals' Daylen Lile breaks Bryce Harper's impressive rookie record

Daylen Lile puts the bat on the baseball, hits it hard, and runs fast.

It's been a great combination in the rookie season for the Washington Nationals' outfielder with the sweet left-handed swing.

And on Tuesday afternoon, it meant Lile found his way into the franchise record books.

Lile has now hit more triples in his rookie season than any Nationals player. He broke a tie with Bryce Harper, according to the Nationals communications team.

Lile now has 10 triples this season.

Remarkably, Lile has his 10 triples in less than 300 at bats.

He also has 14 doubles and six home runs.

Lile is batting .295 with an .823 OPS.

He was never a top-100 prospect by any scouting service, but that hasn't stopped Lile from being an immediate standout at the MLB level. If the Nats are going to be competitive in the future, Lile has likely played himself into the picture to be a part of that.

First, there's still time for the 22-year old to extend his franchise triples record. And at the rate he hits three-baggers, you wouldn't bet against another few before the season is done.
