Move over butter yellow — Martha Stewart proves this sunny shade is just as chic for summer

If you like to shop, there's a good chance you've seen butter yellow tops, dresses and more popping up in all your favorite stores. The pastel hue is the color of the season! However, Martha Stewart — a woman who's not afraid to try something new — recently stepped out for an event promoting her Emmy-nominated Netflix documentary wearing a full yellow outfit. She wore wide-leg pants with a matching blouse, both by Libertine. But instead of butter yellow, she opted for a sunnier, canary-like shade that felt cheery, yet elegant and chic.

Often referred to as Gen Z yellow, the shade is bright, bold and grabs your attention. Unlike butter yellow, it's meant to stand out. With that in mind, it makes sense why Stewart chose to wear it. The celeb is known for wearing metallic leather pants, sparkly sneakers, and all kinds of sequins whenever she steps off her upstate New York farm. This sunny yellow is like her lighter, summer version of that, and she's still making a fashion statement.

However, one misconception we need to point out is that yes, everyone can wear yellow and look good wearing it. Which shade you choose is obviously your preference, but don't be afraid to give it a try. If you feel inspired to wear more bright yellow, we've rounded up 11 styles to help you start.

Psst! If you want to take any of these looks to the next level, be like Martha and pair them with her signature gold platform heels.

While we're advocating for the dress in this happy yellow hue, be forewarned: The cut is so flattering, you might become a Somerset dress addict — like one of our editors' moms
