Moretto: Milan renewal uncertain as Liberali could opt for ‘different growth path’

Mattia Liberali’s contract will expire in 2026 and AC Milan are expected to sit down with him at the end of the season. However, according to a report, the youngster could decide to continue his career elsewhere.

Liberali is widely regarded as one of the most exciting talents on the Italian scene, having impressed both for Milan and Italy’s youth national teams. This season, however, somewhat brought him to a halt between minutes for the first team, the Futuro and the Primavera.

Nevertheless, his qualities are clear with seven goals and two assists despite the tough season, while picking himself up a lot towards the end. As such, a renewal is a must for Milan, and this is something Matteo Moretto discussed on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel.

“Milan must renew Liberali, his contract expires in 2026. He’s one of the most promising players on the Italian scene for age and quality. He debuted in the first team, but this season he had a somewhat irregular path, playing for the first team, the Futuro and the Primavera.

“The renewal issue hasn’t been addressed and the player’s contract expires in 2026. The stance today is that the parties will meet at the end of the season to find a solution beyond 2026, but Liberali could try to look for a different growth path, away from Milan,” he stated as transcribed by Radio Rossonera.

It goes without saying that Milan simply have to find a solution. Sending him out on loan, thus guaranteeing playing time, could be one way to convince the player. The future might also depend on Milan Futuro, who will play the relegation play-off against SPAL in May.
