Staring blindly into Dots
Getting up to splash my face
Wanting just to stay awake
Wondering how much I can take

Editor’s Note: I thought Collin was still having log-in issues with WordPress, so we both wrote Dots today. Now you have double dots.

  • Despite drastic changes to conference alignment, NIL, transfers, and the postseason, nobody really believes we have reached a point of administrative stasis in college football. In fact, the Big 10 made a proposal late last week for a new postseason structure that would be radically different than the current 12-team model. The Big 10 proposal includes either 24 or 28 teams making the postseason, first-round games taking the place of Conference Championship Games, and a plethora of automatic bids going to the Big 10 and SEC.
  • In something a little closer to actual, competitive football, the Huskies had a scrimmage on Saturday with some fans in attendance. Jedd Fisch was happy that the players got some game-like experience and no injuries came out of the scrimmage. It sounds like the #1 offense mostly played the #2 defense and vice versa, so the competition level was not turned up to 11. Likewise, the offensive play-calling tends to be very vanilla in these events to avoid providing scouting opportunities and to focus on executing the basics. Nonetheless, it’s exciting to see rave reviews about the UW DBs.
  • Christian Caple also reported on the scrimmage with a focus on player health and availability. He notes that there were a handful of players, including Tacario Davis and Elinneus Davis, who played some snaps but did not see full action due to minor bumps they have taken. To continue a theme we have heard through camp, Rylon Dillard-Allen, Dezmen Roebuck, and John Mills all played lots of snaps for freshmen and all were highly productive.
  • With two weeks to go before kickoff against Colorado State, Dawgman put together a projected depth chart. Kevin Green gets the nod at slot receiver, Mills starts over Paki Finau at LG (though I’m sure both will see plenty of action), and Alex McLaughlin slots next to Makell Esteen in a tightly-fought competition at safety.
  • What do we have going on outside of Football? There was an actual match in women’s soccer! The Huskies got their first win of the year in their second match with a 4-0 drubbing of the Idaho Vandals.
