MLB Makes Jasson Dominguez-Yankees Announcement Amid Historic Night

What a night it was for New York Yankees rising slugger and outfielder Jasson Dominguez, who just hit his third home run of the game — a grand slam — against the Athletics at Sutter Health Park on May 9.

The former top prospect nicknamed "The Martian" swung a red-hot bat on Friday night, launching homers in the third, seventh and eighth innings.

He also managed a sacrifice fly in the fifth, giving him 7 RBI total as the Yankees rolled to a 10-2 victory.

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez rounds the bases after a home run against the Athletics at Sutter Health Park.

After home run number three, the MLB made an announcement pertaining to Dominguez and the Yankees on X.

"Jasson Domínguez is the youngest player in Yankees history to record a 3-homer game! 🤩" The MLB's social media team revealed.

They included a video of Dominguez's final historic bomb, which came off Athletics pitcher Elvis Alvarado.

Dominguez has mostly struggled out of the gates in 2025, although it's very possible that this could be his breakout game. The 22-year-old had a .231 batting average heading into May 9, with just 2 home runs and 12 RBI.

Needless to say, he more than doubled that home run total in one night.

He also struck out 37 times over his first 31 outings of the year, with strikeout number 38 coming on Friday despite the 7-RBI showing. By comparison, Dominguez has walked 14 times, with a .328 on-base percentage.

Yankees fans will want to see a lot more from Dominguez as the season progresses, but May 9 is a reminder of the youngster's potential.

Few prospects are built like Dominguez physically, while also flaunting his rare blend of power and speed, but he has to put it all together with more consistency. At the very least, Friday night was a great sign for the Yankees prospect's MLB future.
