Mike Tyson is already engaging in a war of words with future opponent Floyd Mayweather.

During a recent interview with Fat Joe at a Hard Rock Bet VIP event at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, Florida, Tyson, 59, dished on getting into the ring with Mayweather, 48, for an exhibition fight next spring.

“I was minding my own business; I wasn’t bothering nobody,” Tyson explained. “He just wanted to pick a fight.”

When Fat Joe, 55, suggested the two were fighting for money, Tyson answered: “I guess the bag is involved.”

Tyson retired from boxing in 2005, but made his highly anticipated return to the sport in 2024, when he went up against Jake Paul and lost.

In September, Iron Mike took to Instagram to announce that he and his fellow boxing legend would be facing off next year.

“When CSI came to me about stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather, I thought, ‘No way this happens,’ but, Floyd said yes,” Tyson later told ESPN. “This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen.”

“However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable — and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets,” Tyson continued. “I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this.”

Of course, Tyson had to get one more shot in. “It’s going to be detrimental to his health,” the Hangover actor added, “but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening!”

Meanwhile, Mayweather had his own sentiments to share.

“I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy,” he said in a press release, per ESPN. “You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”

Though Mayweather a.k.a. Pretty Boy retired in 2017 following his bout with Conor McGregor, he has competed in multiple exhibition fights since.

The match, hosted by CSI Sports/Fight Sports, will take place next spring, TMZ reports. However the exact date, location and broadcast details are still TBD.
