Mike Elko shares major Bryce Anderson injury update after frightening Notre Dame collision

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko addressed the status of safety Bryce Anderson following a terrifying scene during Saturday’s 41-40 victory over Notre Dame in South Bend. Anderson was injured late in the first half and had to be carted off the field after a collision left him motionless, but Elko provided encouraging news afterward.

“Still praying for Bryce,” Elko said via TexAgs. “At this point, all things are positive. We will continue to pray for a positive resolution.”

The incident occurred with 55 seconds left before halftime when Anderson’s helmet collided with Notre Dame tight end Eli Raridon on a 25-yard completion. He remained face down as medical staff rushed onto the field.

Trainers worked for about 10 minutes to stabilize his neck before he was stretchered off. As Anderson exited, he raised a thumbs up to the crowd, which drew a loud ovation from fans inside Notre Dame Stadium.

According to Elko, initial tests at a local hospital revealed promising signs, though further evaluations are still ongoing.

“I don’t think we’ve given every diagnostic test. But so far, the tests that we’ve run through have come back positive."

Anderson, a senior from Beaumont, Texas, had already tallied four tackles before the injury. Teammates gathered around him as medical personnel tended to the defensive back, with several Aggies kneeling on the field in support.

Despite the somber moment, the Aggies went on to secure a thrilling one-point win over the Fighting Irish. For Elko and his players, however, the result was tempered by concern for one of their veteran leaders.
