Guardiola Targets Early Business After Trophyless Season
Even at Manchester City, standards are unforgiving. After a rare season without silverware, losing the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace and finishing third in the Premier League, Pep Guardiola is not waiting around. According to Football Insider, City are on the brink of sealing a triple signing worth £115m to reinforce their squad before this month’s Club World Cup.
Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rayan Cherki are expected to arrive in deals that signal efficiency and intent. “Those fees in the current market look very attractive,” said football finance expert Stefan Borson. “If they did get all three of them for £115m, that would be very good business.”
This is no vanity project. Guardiola has identified three players who fit the system, meet the moment, and offer something different from those already in the building.

Reijnders and Ait-Nouri Address Key Gaps
Tijjani Reijnders is seen as the long-term successor to Ilkay Gündoğan. After returning from Barcelona, Gündoğan struggled to impose himself in City’s evolving midfield. Reijnders, commanding and press-resistant, offers a fresh dynamic. Fabrizio Romano has already issued his trademark “Here we go”, with the AC Milan midfielder set to cost £46.3m.
Alongside him, Wolves’ left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri brings versatility and energy. Priced at £36.3m, he fits the modern mould of a Guardiola full-back, capable of defending one-on-one and stepping into midfield when needed.

Cherki Seen as Long-Term De Bruyne Heir
The most intriguing of the trio may be Rayan Cherki. Still just 21, the Lyon attacker has long been on the radar of Europe’s elite. According to Football Insider, City have opened talks over a deal worth around £30m. His flair and creativity have drawn comparisons to Riyad Mahrez, and his ability to play between the lines makes him a logical successor to Kevin De Bruyne.
TEAMtalk reports that Cherki has agreed to join City, and following France’s clash with Spain, the player confirmed that his move to City is “advancing.” With France captain Kylian Mbappé also publicly praising the youngster, expectations are high.

Grealish and McAtee Set for Exit
Every reshaping requires exits, and Football Insider confirms Jack Grealish and James McAtee are likely to depart. Grealish, 29, has fallen out of favour and failed to make the Club World Cup squad. City are open to a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
McAtee, a promising talent but yet to win over Guardiola, is expected to leave permanently. With homegrown status, his sale represents pure profit, a helpful bonus in the era of Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Our View – EPL Index Analysis
The disappointment of last season still stings. Losing out on the league title and falling short at Wembley wasn’t what City fans expected from a squad of this calibre. But this swift and calculated recruitment drive shows Guardiola and the board are wasting no time in resetting.
Reijnders feels like a smart, no-nonsense addition. He’s tactically disciplined, good on the ball and brings the kind of intelligence Guardiola craves. Ait-Nouri adds energy down the left, and with Gvardiol likely moving centrally, his arrival brings balance to the back line.
Cherki is the wildcard, full of promise, unpredictable and potentially a game-changer. If City can refine him the way they did with Mahrez or Foden, fans could be watching the emergence of something special.
As for Grealish and McAtee, the writing has been on the wall. Grealish never truly settled, and while McAtee has shown glimpses, he’s not broken through in a squad this elite.
Three signings, all under 26, for a combined £115m? That’s smart business, the kind City do best.
