Major League Baseball announces incredible Padres’ Manny Machado news

With the All-Star break less than two weeks away, ESPN revealed the starting lineups for this year’s MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta.

At third base, ESPN announced that Padres’ superstar Manny Machado will be starting at the hot corner for the NL in the All-Star Game.

Machado joined Max Muncy of the Los Angeles Dodgers as the two finalists for the second phase of voting. In Phase 2 of voting, Machado received 62 percent of the vote compared to 38 percent for Muncy.

Wednesday night’s selection marks the seventh time Machado was selected to be an All-Star. His most recent appearance in the All-Star Game was in 2022.

Machado has had himself a great first half of the 2025 season, batting .293 with 13 home runs and 47 RBIs. In Wednesday’s win over the Phillies, Machado went 1-for-4 with three RBIs as the Padres won 6-4.

Machado boasts of a long list of awards in addition to his 2025 All-Star selection. He has made All-MLB First-Team twice in 2020 and 2022 and was All-MLB Second Team last season. Machado is also a two-time Gold Glove winner, getting the award in 2013 and 2015.

The Padres are currently in the heat of a crazy NL wild card race. At 46-39, San Diego has just a 0.5-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals for the final wild card spot. The Padres are also looking to fend off the San Francisco Giants, Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks in a crowded pennant.
