The Boston Celtics are one of, if not the most successful, organizations in the NBA.
A championship two seasons ago, and 17 more to their name.
Right now, it seems as if they are looking to add to that number, but the challenge for next season will be doing it without Jayson Tatum.
However, there is another challenge within the roster, and it’s their lack of a skilled center.
Al Horford remains a free agent but seems to have no desire to sign with the Boston Celtics, leaving them with a hole in their starting lineup.
They currently have a couple of options, so let’s take a look at every direction they may go.

First on the list is Neemias Queta. The seven-footer from Portugal has shown flashes of potential, and even in his limited role, seems to be an above-average playmaker for his position. Celtics fans may see a bit of Robert Williams in him because of his athleticism and knack for blocking shots. Quetta could go from G League MVP runner-up to starting center for Boston in just a couple of years.
Next would be recent signee Chris Boucher. Boucher brings championship experience and the ability to stretch the floor. He signed a one-year, $3.3 million deal. Boucher fits more of the modern mold of a big man putting the ball on the floor as well as knocking down jump shots. Boucher and his college teammate Payton Pritchard will both be competing for a starting spot next year.
They could also give rookie Amari Williams a shot. Although he is on a two-way contract, Williams may crack the rotation later in the season if all else fails. The former Kentucky Wildcat is a sneaky good passer for his size, much like Queta. Maybe not the go-to option, but certainly one of them.
Lastly is Luka Garza. Not much to say here other than the fact that he was a monster in college, and it hasn’t yet translated to the league. Don’t be surprised if the Celtics find a way to bring his old self back.
Then again, Al Horford could end up back with them, or they could go out and make a trade for a guy like Andre Drummond, who knows.
It will be interesting to see what route they take when that time comes.
