JAMESTOWN —- The track surrounding the football field at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium was packed with athletes throughout the entirety of the 701 Apparel Invitational on Friday, May 9.
In total, there were 18 boys’ teams and 15 girls’ teams participating in the event. The local teams made up 26 total wins in the event.

Both the 100-meter dashes were won by local teams as Jamestown’s Julia Skari won the girls’ race while New Rockford-Sheyenne’s Porter Granger won the boys’ race.
After finishing in second in the 100-meter dash, Harvey/Wells County’s Christalea Wagner set a personal record with a time of 25.38 and a first place finish in the 200-meter dash. The runner up in the boys 100-meter dash also took the top spot in the 200-meter race as Gunner Thielges also set a personal best with a time of 22.35. Thielges also was the closing leg on his team’s first place finish in the 4x100 relay with a time of 44.71.

The girls’ 400-meter dash was won by Carrington’s Edyn Hoornaert while the boys’ 400-meter race was won by Jamestown’s Noah Lynch with a time of 51.29.

The boys’ hurdles events were dominated by local runners with Harvey/Wells County’s Tallen Thorson setting a season record with a time of 14.87 before Linton/HMB’s Isaac Silvernagel won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.01. Silvernagel ran the final leg of his team’s 4x200 relay win as they finished with a time of 1:34.74.
The 4x400 relay race was won by two local teams with Oakes winning the boys’ race with a time of 3:34.05 before the Harvey/Wells County’s A-squad won the girls’ race with a time of 4:11.85.

The boys’ discus event was won by Carrington’s Andrew Matt while the girls’ discus was won by LaMoure/Litchville-Marion’s Norah DelaBarre. One of the most dominant performances of the day came from Carrington’s Ryder Bickett who threw the javelin 182’ 11’’, outpacing the second place finisher Maple River’s Tee Sylling who threw the javelin 172’ 6’’.
The Blue Jays’ Brady Harty won an incredibly tight triple jump finals with a leap of 43’2’’, just ahead of LaMoure/Litchville-Marion’s Avery Kramer who threw it 43’1’’.

The boys’ team event was won by the Jamestown Blue Jays with 94.5 points. The girls’ event was won by Lisbon with 84.5 points.
