The LC 500 Soldiers On to 2026

Last month, a report out of Japan suggested that the LC 500, arguably Lexus' coolest car in the lineup, is going the way of the dodo. Lexus didn't confirm the news, but the signs were there. The LC 500 wasn't exactly a high-volume model for the Japanese luxury marque, with buyers of premium vehicles gravitating more toward the more practical SUVs.

However, Lexus has pulled a surprise move by introducing a 2026 model year for the LC 500, probably your last chance to get your hands on the flagship GT. Rather than fading quietly into the background, the nameplate is getting one more turn in the spotlight, complete with new finishes, updated tech, and a pair of stylish limited-run trims.

Limited Inspiration Series for Coupe and Convertible

Both the LC 500 coupe and convertible return for 2026 with light refinements and special variants under the Inspiration Series banner. For the coupe (limited to 200 units), Lexus is offering an exclusive Smoke Matte Gray paint finish, paired with black forged alloy wheels and carbon fiber trim, including the roof panel, fixed rear spoiler, and front canards. Subtle blacked-out touches on the grille, lighting, and rocker panels give the car a more aggressive edge.

Inside, the coupe adopts a dramatic black-and-white leather interior with sport seats, a Mark Levinson audio system, a heads-up display, and red brake calipers. Active rear steering is also included, enhancing handling without compromising ride quality.

The LC 500 Convertible version gets its distinct treatment. Its Inspiration Series model (limited to 350 units) features a unique Wind exterior color, paired with a brown and silver soft top. Inside, the cabin is finished in saddle tan and white semi-aniline leather and includes Lexus' Climate Concierge system, which warms the upper body for open-top driving comfort. It also comes standard with a limited-slip differential and rear performance rod.

Both models can be further customized under the returning Bespoke Build program, which lets owners specify wheels, spoilers, roof or top treatments, interior trims, and even unique build badges.

Still V8-Powered, But No More Hybrid

The made-in-Japan LC 500 remains true to its identity under the hood. Lexus has dropped the hybrid variant for 2026, making this V8 your only option – fitting, perhaps, for what could be the LC's final chapter. The 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 carries on, delivering 471 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission. The coupe sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, while the convertible does it in 4.6.

Pricing starts at $101,700 for the coupe and $109,200 for the convertible, headed to American showrooms toward the end of the year.
