By nature of the Southeastern Conference’s expansion last season, the 2025 schedule (at least from a conference standpoint) mirrors the 2024 slate. Because of that (and the annual matchup against the rival Clemson Tigers), South Carolina quarterback and Heisman hopeful LaNorris Sellers now has a history against nine of the teams he will face this fall.
Let’s take a look at Sellers’ past performances against each team on the 2025 schedule.
First, it’s worth noting that Sellers has never played against Virginia Tech, South Carolina State, or Coastal Carolina. Plus, any bowl game this winter likely will come against a new foe.
The 2025 games listed below are in order of this fall’s schedule.

Vanderbilt Commodores
Vandy is one of the few teams Sellers has seen twice. He saw some action late against the ‘Dores as a true freshman in 2023 before beating them again last fall. The Gamecocks controlled the action all day, and Sellers had multiple Houdini acts as he escaped would-be sacks.

Missouri Tigers
Sellers did not play in “the other Columbia” back in 2023 but had, arguably, his best passing performance against Mizzou in 2024. One of his most impressive “Superman” moments of the year came as part of an impressive comeback effort. He earned some National Player of the Week recognition for his performance.

Kentucky Wildcats
Joining Vanderbilt, Kentucky is a team that Sellers has played against twice. As a true freshman in 2023, he saw some action in rushing situations, as the Gamecocks were woefully short on healthy scholarship rushing options. In 2024, he led South Carolina to a blowout road victory in Lexington.

LSU Tigers
South Carolina lost to the Bayou Bengals in 2024, but they got out to a big lead early. If Sellers hadn’t gone out in the late first half with an ankle injury, perhaps the final result would have been different. He had a good day before the injury, and his only clear “mistake” was an interception that should have been a penalty against LSU.
Passing Yards: 113
Passing Touchdowns: 0
Passing Efficiency: 9/16
Rushing Yards: 88
Rushing Touchdowns: 2
Turnovers: 1 fumble, 1 interception
Result: 33-36 defeat; South Carolina led 24-16 when Sellers exited
Oklahoma Sooners
The first-ever meeting between South Carolina and Oklahoma was over almost as soon as it started. The Gamecock defense ambushed the Sooners, turning three turnovers into a quick 21-0 lead. The game was never in doubt, and Sellers played turnover-free football to keep it that way.
Passing Yards: 175
Passing Touchdowns: 1
Passing Efficiency: 16/24
Rushing Yards: 28
Rushing Touchdowns: 0
Turnovers: 0

Alabama Crimson Tide
After a disastrous start, Sellers and the Gamecocks flipped a switch late in the second half. South Carolina almost completed the comeback upset win over Alabama. However, a desperation heave from Sellers was intercepted in the game’s final moment.
Passing Yards: 238
Passing Touchdowns: 2
Passing Efficiency: 23/31
Rushing Yards: 19
Rushing Touchdowns: 0
Turnovers: 2 fumbles, 1 interception
Result: 27-25 defeat
Ole Miss Rebels
Though Sellers played against Ole Miss, he didn’t appear to be at 100%. The ankle injury against LSU may still have been affecting him. All in all, the matchup with the Rebels was the only “bad game” Carolina played in 2024.
Passing Yards: 162
Passing Touchdowns: 0
Passing Efficiency: 20/32
Rushing Yards: 55
Rushing Touchdowns: 0
Turnovers: 1 fumble, 1 interception
Result: 27-3 defeat
Texas A&M Aggies
Sellers didn’t face A&M in 2023 but led the Gamecocks to a top 10 victory over the Aggies as a redshirt freshman. He didn’t have the most efficient day passing (some of the incompletions were drops), but he had a big-time rushing performance and made the right plays in the passing game. He also played turnover-free football in what became a USC runaway. Sellers picked up some National Player of the Week honors for this one.
Passing Yards: 244
Passing Touchdowns: 2
Passing Efficiency: 13/27
Rushing Yards: 106
Rushing Touchdowns: 1
Turnovers: 0
Result: 44-20 victory
Clemson Tigers
A performance for the ages, LaNorris Sellers simply refused to be tackled in the Palmetto Bowl. Breaking 18 Tiger tackle attempts, he overcame a defense-heavy contest for the only two USC scores and a huge win. For the third time, some outlets considered Sellers as the National Player of the Week. He didn’t see any snaps against the in-state rival as a true freshman.
Passing Yards: 164
Passing Touchdowns: 0
Passing Efficiency: 13/21
Rushing Yards: 166
Rushing Touchdowns: 2
Turnovers: 1 fumble, 1 interception

Stats in Nine Games against Teams on 2024 and 2025 Schedules
Sellers was the first coaches-selected All-SEC quarterback in South Carolina history last fall. He had a really good year overall, but he finished the year on a strong note. His efforts against teams he will play again this fall were a big reason why. Despite missing a half with an injury, Sellers averaged 265 total yards of offense in those nine contests, over two touchdowns, and 1.3 turnovers per game. He also threw for a 65% completion percentage in those games.
Passing Yards: 1853
Passing Touchdowns: 14
Passing Efficiency: 139/215
Rushing Yards: 534
Rushing Touchdowns: 5
Turnovers: 6 fumbles, 6 interceptions
Result: 6-3 record, including four ranked wins
