Joe Burrow, Aaron Jones, Justin Fields among injured in NFL's Week 2

Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Joe Burrow, Justin Fields and Aaron Jones were among the NFL stars injured in Week 2 of the season. Those injured will be evaluated to determine timelines for return.

Burrow hurt his left toe in the second quarter of the Bengals' 31-27 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in Cincinnati. He did not return and was seen using a walking boot and crutches after the game.

Bengals coach Zac Taylor did not disclose details of the injury at his postgame news conference, but sources told NFL Network, The Athletic and ESPN that Burrow is feared to have sustained Grade 3 turf toe, which would require surgery and an absence of at least three months.

Burrow completed 7 of 13 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. Bengals backup quarterback Jake Browning completed 21 of 32 passes for 241 yards, two scores and three interceptions. He also ran for a score.

Also, Bengals rookie defensive end Shemar Stewart sustained an ankle injury. He was also seen at crutches after the game.

The Bengals (0-2) will face the Minnesota Vikings (1-1) on Sunday in Minneapolis. The Jaguars (1-1) will host the Houston Texans (0-1) on Sunday in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Vikings lost offensive linemen Ryan Kelly and Justin Skule to concussions in their loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in Minneapolis. Running back Aaron Jones injured a hamstring in the fourth quarter. Linebacker Gabriel Murphy was also ruled out with a knee injury.

Jones totaled 23 yards on five carries. Backup running back Jordan Mason logged 30 yards on nine carries. The Falcons lost cornerback A.J Terrell to a hamstring injury.

The Falcons (1-1) will face the Carolina Panthers (0-2) in Week 3. The Panthers lost offensive linemen Rob Hunt and Austin Corbett to respective biceps and knee injuries in their 27-22 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals lost cornerbacks Will Johnson (groin), Max Melton (knee) and Garrett Williams (knee) to injuries. They also lost defensive lineman L.J. Collier to a knee injury.

The Cardinals (2-0) will play the San Francisco 49ers (2-0) on Sunday in Santa Clara, Calif. The 49ers lost fullback Kyle Juszczyk to a concussion and offensive lineman Ben Bartch to an ankle injury during a 26-21 win over the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints will meet the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3.

Jets quarterback Justin Fields sustained a concussion during a 30-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Jets also lost defensive end Jermaine Johnson II (ankle) and cornerbacks Tony Adams (groin) and Michael Carter II (shoulder) to injuries.

They will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) in the third game of their 2025 campaign.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Alex Highsmith (ankle), Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Kristian Fulton (ankle) and Baltimore Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy (hamstring) were among the other notable NFL players to sustain injuries in Week 2.

The Houston Texans (0-1) will host the Buccaneers in the Week 2 finale at 7 p.m. EDT Monday in Houston.
