The status of Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was put in doubt on Saturday after the former first-round pick was added to the injury report.
Smith-Njigba practiced in full throughout the week, but he came down with an illness over the weekend and is now listed as questionable ahead of kickoff on Sunday, leaving his status for Week 3 in doubt.
Here's the latest update on whether or not Smith-Njigba will take take the field against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
Is Jaxon Smith-Njigba playing today?
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Smith-Njigba is expected to play in Week 3 versus the Saints despite having flu-like symptoms.
"Seahawks are expecting Jaxon Smith-Njigba to play today after he began experiencing 'flu-like symptoms' Saturday, per source," Schefter wrote.
There has been no indication that the wide receiver will be limited, so he looks to be a full-go despite the illness.
Why it matters
Smith-Njigba is the Seahawks' No. 1 wide receiver, so it goes without saying how important he is to Seattle's offense.
Through two games, Smith-Njigba has tallied 17 catches on 23 targets for 227 yards. He ranks first on the Seahawks in all three categories.
Fantasy start or sit for Smith-Njigba
In PPR formats, Smith-Njigba ranks as WR11 after two games, making him a borderline WR1 and every-week starter.
The Saints have been fairly tough against wide receivers to start the season, giving up the 11th-fewest fantasy points per game to the position.
However, Smith-Njigba is an automatic starter every week, regardless of matchup.
