Iowa Cubs Wrap: Miguel Amaya rehabs

Myrtle Beach right-handed starter Jose Florentino was named to the Carolina League All-Star team.

Iowa Cubs left-hander Austin Gomber was named International League Pitcher of the Week.

Shortstop Ed Howard was promoted from Double-A Knoxville to Triple-A Iowa.

Right-hander Caleb Kilian went on the temporarily inactive list.

Miguel Amaya joins Iowa on a rehab assignment.

Starter Jordan Wicks gave up three runs in the top of the first inning to put Iowa behind early. Wicks managed to get through three innings, allowing just the three runs on four hits. Wicks walked two and struck out three.

Iowa managed to fight back and retake the lead, but reliever Antonio Santos coughed up the lead when he gave up a three-run home run to Gage Workman. Santos got the loss after being charged with four runs on two hits and five walks over 1.2 innings. Santos struck out one.

Center fielder James Triantos was 3 for 3 and scored once.

Billy Hamilton pinch ran for Triantos in the fifth inning and stole second and third base before being stranded there.

Shortstop Nicky Lopez went 2 for 4 with a walk.

Amaya spent the entire game as the designated hitter and went 1 for 5 with an RBI single.
