Inter Milan President Issues San Siro Warning To City Of Milan: “Stadium A Priority, If It Doesn’t Get Resolved, We’ll Go Elsewhere”

Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta has issued a warning to the city of Milan amid an ongoing San Siro situation.

Speaking to the press after last night’s win over Sassuolo via FCInter1908, Marotta offered his verdict on the current issue.

Inter Milan beat the Neroverdi 2-1at San Siro yesterday to bounce back from consecutive defeats to Udinese and Juventus.

Despite returning to winning ways, last season’s runners-up still have ground to cover, with Napoli three points ahead.

Meanwhile, off-field problems continue to trouble the 20-time Serie A champions.

Indeed, AC Milan and Inter have been trying to purchase San Siro and the surrounding areas for over a year now.

However, bureaucratic issues have repeatedly stalled progress.

Furthermore, the city’s indecisiveness has delayed any concrete agreement on the stadium’s redevelopment.

Therefore, both clubs are in limbo despite taking a united front.

Tired of facing constant obstacles, Beppe Marotta address the situation last night.

“As a man of football and as Inter’s president, I believe the city of Milan has assumed a marginal role in sports matters,” Marotta said.

“San Siro can no longer host a Champions League final, nor can it be considered among the stadiums for 2032.

“This is a major problem, a debate where opinions from politicians of 30 years ago, who are very conservative, still dominate.

“There are two top clubs, Inter and Milan, representing Milan, and they both face this stadium issue.

“If the Milan City Council fail to resolve the matter, we will be forced to look elsewhere.

‘This isn’t something we want to do because Milan is Milan. However, the stadium issue is a priority and we aren’t finding solutions at the moment.

“We expect the political class, through the city administration and now the City Council, to express a favorable vote.

“We are dealing with two private investors ready to invest around 1.5 billion euros.

“This would create a jewel for the city of Milan and should be a source of pride with many added benefits, and common sense should prevail.

“The alternative? It could be Rozzano or other locations.

“We have immense respect for an icon like San Siro, but today, it’s out of date, and it’s right that it takes a step back.”
