IDF targets Hamas, PIJ explosives, observation posts in bid to stop ambushes on troops

On Tuesday, the IDF announced that five soldiers were killed, and 14 were wounded in Beit Hanun by an explosive device Hamas terrorists planted.

The IDF has dismantled numerous Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad explosives and observation posts used to ambush troops in the areas of Shejaia and Zeitoun in Gaza City over the past two days, the military said Saturday.

The Israeli air force killed dozens of terrorists operating in the same area.

In the area of Beit Hanun, soldiers killed numerous terrorists and dismantled terror infrastructure above and below ground, and weapons.

On Tuesday, the IDF announced that five soldiers were killed, and 14 were wounded in Beit Hanun by an explosive device, most of them from the Netzah Yehuda Battalion in the Kfir Brigade.

Hamas had placed improvised explosive devices just before the soldiers entered the area between Air Force and artillery barrages that were conducted in order to pave a safe path for the infantry, according to the IDF.

The Air Force struck a total of about 250 targets throughout Gaza in the past two days, including terrorists, booby-trapped structures, weapons storage facilities, anti-tank missile launch sites, sniper posts, tunnels, and more.

Soldiers killed in Gaza due to terror ambushes

There have been several soldiers who were killed throughout Gaza by explosives planted by terrorists, ambushes, snipers, and anti-tank missile fire.

The IDF announced on Wednesday that St.-Sgt.-Maj. (res.) Abraham Azulay was killed in Khan Yunis in Gaza after terrorists emerged from a tunnel and tried to abduct him.

Last week, the IDF announced the death of Sgt. Asaf Zamir, who was also killed in Khan Yunis when a terrorist fired an anti-tank missile at the tank he was in. In the same incident, four soldiers were wounded.
