Houston transfer Gigi Cooke commits to West Virginia

West Virginia women’s basketball has added another piece to its backcourt with the commitment of Houston transfer Gigi Cooke.

The 5-foot-8 guard started 22 games last season for the Cougars and finished as their second-leading scorer, averaging 12.4 points per game. She led Houston in scoring in nine games, including six in conference play, and had a breakout 21-point performance in her first career start at Rice. One of her standout efforts came in February when she posted 16 points against West Virginia.

Cooke began her college career at Maryland, where she appeared in 25 games as a freshman during the 2022-23 season.

A former four-star recruit, she has two years of eligibility remaining.
